IPRC/IEP Checklist for Parents
Check that you have completed or received the following:
- IPRC Referral & Initial Steps:
- Was your child referred to the IPRC by you or the Principal?
- Have you reviewed the resources and information on the DSAO EducAide website?
- Did you receive the Board’s Guide to Special Education?
- IPRC Meeting Preparation & Attendance:
- Did you receive notice of the IPRC meeting at least 10 days in advance?
- Did you attend the IPRC meeting?
- IEP Development & Parental Involvement:
- Were you consulted during the development of the Individual Education Plan (IEP)?
- Were your child’s strengths and needs clearly listed?
- Were you informed of all possible placement recommendations, including:
- Regular class with indirect support
- Regular class with resource assistance
- Regular class with withdrawal assistance
- Special education class with partial integration
- Full-time special education class
- Were you informed of special education services available through the Board, local community agencies, or other outside agencies?
- IEP Approval & Appeal Process:
- Did you sign the IEP?
- If you did not sign the IEP, did you notify the Board of your intention to appeal?
- Did you send a letter of appeal to the Board within 15 days of the IEP meeting?
- Additional Support & Advocacy:
- Did you contact the EducAide Hotline for assistance?
- Did you select a representative to sit on the Board of Appeal on your behalf?
